Tsesnabank's history of operating in the banking market of Kazakhstan spans 27 years. Founded in 1992, soon after the declaration of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the bank has been successfully providing services to its customers along with the development of the sovereign state and its banking system.
On 7 February 2019, Mr Shigeo Katsu became Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tsesnabank, and Mr Bekzhan Pirmatov became Chairman of the Management Board of Tsesnabank.
On 6 February 2019, First Heartland Securities JSC acquired 99.5% of Tsesnabank's ordinary shares.
Mr Nikolay Mechsheryakov was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tsesnabank JSC.
On 29 October 2018, Tsesnabank opened its Turkestan Branch.
On 19 September 2018, the mechanism for the agricultural sector rehabilitation was approved and an agreement for the buyout of a part of Tsesnabank’s loan portfolio in an amount of KZT 450 billion by the Fund of Problem Loans was signed.
On 14 September 2018, pursuant to the decision of the Board of Directors, Mr Yerzhan Toleubekov left the position of Chairman of Tsesnabank's Management Board. Mr Ulf Wokurka was elected new Chairman of the Management Board of Tsesnabank.
On 14 March 2018, Tsesnabank JSC and Financial Holding Tsesna JSC sold their entire stake in Bank CenterCredit JSC to a group of Kazakh buyers.
Tsesnabank won International Banker award for Best Commercial Bank of the Year Kazakhstan 2017.
Tsesnabank won Asiamoney award for Best local bank in Central & Eastern Europe for Belt & Road Initiative.
Tsesnabank won the Asian Development Bank Trade Finance Program award for Leading Partner Bank in Kazakhstan.

On 30 April 2016, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Tsesnabank signed an agreement under the ADB Trade Finance Program for providing guarantees for trade finance transactions of Tsesnabank.
Tsesnabank acted as lead manager and participating bank of a syndicated loan to Belarusbank, Minsk, Belarus.
At the press conference on 28 January 2016 Gennady Golovkin officially confirmed that he will participate in social and commercial projects as Tsesnabank's ambassador.
